Freshwater Fly Tying 101

Fall 2008

Thursdays 7pm

October 23 – November 20

 

Beginning on Thursday, October 23rd, local fly fisherman and commercial fly tier, Rich Julien, will kick off the freshwater course.  On five consecutive Thursday nights, Rich will showcase five different flies. Throughout the series, you will become familiar with all the necessary tools and skills to get you up and tying on your own.  In addition to the fly tying, Rich will discuss pattern presentation and fly choice.

 

Flies to be tied: the Wooly Bugger, a Gold Ribbed Hare’s Ear, an Elk Wing Caddis, a Hendrickson dry, and a Mickey Finn.

 

Cost: $100

Class size limited to 8 students.  Materials and tools provided.

 

 

 

 

 

Saltwater Fly Tying 101

Fall 2008

Wednesdays 7pm

November 5 – 19

 

Starting on Wednesday night, November 5, Melissa will begin the Saltwater Fly Tying class.  On three consecutive Wednesday nights, Melissa will cover all of the essentials when it comes tying saltwater streamers.  In addition to learning the various skills and patterns, you will also take a look at the different materials available when it comes to making your own selection.

 

Flies to be tied: the Clouser Minnow, Lefty’s Deceiver, and Tabory’s Snake Fly.

 

Cost: $75

Dick's Ten Deadliest Bonefish Patterns

Spend the day tying at the shop with expert fly tier and fly fisherman, Dick Brown as he shows you how to tie the top ten most successful bonefish fly patterns.  In addition to the fly patterns, recipes, and helpful tying tips, Dick will also discuss fly selections for different destinations, habitats, and conditions, so that you’ll be ahead of the game when it comes to fooling skiddish bonefish in their home waters.
